Vivo X200 Ultra Is Going To Be A Rival For The Galaxy S25 Ultra With A Smaller Main Camera Sensor

From here, in the coming year, Vivo is believed to have planned the launch of its X200 Ultra directly against the Galaxy S25 Ultra and Xiaomi 15 Ultra.
Vivo, just like in the previous model, has aimed at an innovative camera experience.
But a new report claims it has now settled for a somewhat smaller sensor instead of the 1-inch primary sensor.
The Vivo X100 Ultra went official back in January this year as a more camera-focused option to other “Ultra” flagships such as the Xiaomi 14 Ultra and Galaxy S24 Ultra.
Dubbed “Thanos” by Chinese netizens because of its beefy specs, the X100 Ultra launched with a very impressive 1-inch primary sensor in tow. Well, it seems Vivo is prepared to dial that back for its successor.
According to Kartikey Singh, Vivo has already started working on the replacement for the X100 Ultra.
The Vivo X200 Ultra, launching later this year, is reported to give up the 1-inch primary camera sensor for a smaller 1/1.3-inch sensor that keeps the 50 MP resolution. This allegedly ups the ante on the overall performance of the phone.
It is anyone’s guess why Vivo is walking away from a 1-inch sensor, considering sensor size still continues to matter in camera performance.
This is probably due to the main reason of saving money, because both Dimensity 9400 and Snapdragon 8 Elite chips are much more costly compared to their predecessors.
However, per Chinese reports, the physical focal length of the upcoming primary camera would be much longer and may compensate for a smaller sensor size.
While the telephoto sensor shall remain at 200 MP 1/1.4-inch, the lens around it would change to an equivalent 85 mm, just like what is suspected of carrying over from the X100 Ultra.
Of course, this should also carry over a telephoto configuration, much in the way found on the Xiaomi 15 Ultra.
Vivo can take some positives from knowing that the X200 Ultra will boast a major upgrade in the ultra-wide shooter, which boasts a 50 MP sensor size of 1/1.3-inch to capture better wide photographs.
