Liam Payne, former member of One Direction, passes away in sad accident at hotel in Argentina, aged 31

In Buenos Aires, Argentina (AP) – Liam Payne (31), a former British singer who experienced international fame with his band, was discovered dead on Wednesday following a fall from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires, as reported by local authorities.

The Buenos Aires police stated that Payne suffered “very severe injuries” after falling from the third floor of the Casa Sur hotel in the fashionable Palermo neighbourhood of the Argentine capital. Healthcare workers verified that he had died at the location.

According to a report from the Associated Press, Pablo Polichetio, who is the Communications Director for the Buenos Aires Ministry of Security, mentioned that Payne “leaped from the balcony of his room.”

Law enforcement personnel arrived at the hotel after receiving an immediate report at approximately 5 p.m. local time regarding a man displaying aggressive conduct, potentially due to the consumption of drugs or alcohol.

The hotel manager, in a 911 call obtained by the Associated Press, reported a guest who seemed drunk and was causing destruction in the room, asking for immediate assistance. During the call, the manager became increasingly worried, pointing out specifically that the room had a balcony.

Alberto Crescenti, who leads the state’s emergency medical system, stated to Argentina’s Todo Noticias TV channel that officials are looking into the details surrounding Liam Payne’s death, and a postmortem examination is underway.

After hearing the news, many One Direction fans from different parts of Buenos Aires came together at Casa Sur hotel, creating queues that extended onto the street, where police were stationed behind fencing. Forensic investigators were noticed departing the hotel following the removal of Liam Payne’s body, approximately three hours post-incident. Surprised supporters, largely young women capturing on their mobile devices, showed their sadness as a makeshift memorial with lines of candles and floral arrangements appeared rapidly outside the hotel.
